First of all, I think this is a pretty fabulous piece as a general statement. It's well thought out: the pespective is nice, the pose looks natural and I really like the glowing lights on the trees. There are somethings that could use some work, however. I can tell you put a lot of detail into the mans hands and face and suit, but I find that in his legs, I'd like to see just a slightly larger variation of tones so it's more obvious that his leg is there. At this point, I find it blending in with his suit jacket rather than popping forward. The same goes for the staff, as it's looking a little flat. It could be fixed with just a tiny bit of added light reflection. I think the detail in the branches is awesome and you have a good sense of form with them. I really like the composition of the entire piece, and I think it flows nicely. Your background colours are great, but I think it needs to be touched up a little to flow better with the lighting on the trees and the man. Maybe even something to give it a sense of place, like a ground line. That's just personal preference, however. Overall, I think it can be made better with just slight fixes. It's really good right now, but could be made great! Good work.
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to critique this thoughtful work, the focal point of which appears to be the mysterious figure averting his direct gaze from the viewer. He is seated in a writhing branch which is shaped like tunnel of time and it seems this tree twists and turns and ends where time began. He adjusts the brim of his hat much like a woman might conceal herself behind her veil. The keeper of eternity appears at once both youthful and ageless, the withered skin on the right arm contrasting with the boyish hand holding the staff and intimates at his immortality. For me there is a strong sense of ambiguity about this person - a sense of isolation, the burden of secrets and extraordinary power. And not a hair out of place.
